Thank you for visiting the Astwood Bank Carnival website. I hope you find all the information you need within the following pages.
This is our 25th year and I am proud to say that in that time we have raised over quarter of a million pounds which has been donated to local charities and good causes. In fact, one of our principle aims is to support local charities that we, as residents of the village, will benefit from directly. Last year we gave £6,000 to 16 charities and you can see more details of this on the charities page. We welcome applications for funding from anyone but, in return, we ask that you help us as much as you can. Whether that’s by running a stall on Carnival Day, entering a team in the quiz or selling raffle tickets to your family and friends.
I do hope you will be able to join us at one of the many events we are organising throughout the year. Please see the diary of events page for more details. The highlight of the year is the Carnival Day, this year taking place on Saturday 14 July at SE Davis. We already have a number of floats confirmed and I am certain the procession will be better than ever. Follow the procession down to the Carnival Field for an afternoon of activities including the main Arena, music stage, craft stalls, kids funfair and much more all hosted by Touch Radio. At this point, I would like to thank all of the local businesses that support Carnival each year as we could not continue to fundraise without you.
Finally, I have a plea. We have a very small team of volunteers and we all work really hard, in our spare time, to organise Carnival and all the other annual events. We are desperate for more volunteers to join the team as many hands really do make light work. If you can spare a few hours each month to help us continue the good work then, please do get in touch. Alternatively, join us at one of our committee meetings. These are held on the last Wednesday of each month in the back room at the Oddies.
