The 2009 carnival theme was In the Beginning (Charles Darwin Centenary) There are some great video clips below followed by some pictures of Christmas Celebrations held later in the year.
Father Christmas was very well received at the Carols In The Park event which was held on the last Saturday before Christmas when the village came together to celebrate Christmas with carols, mince pies and mulled wine helped along by The Alcester Silver Band.
Theme “What a Wonderful World” and it was a lovely day for Carnival. This was the year the Carnival moved from May to July and it was great not to be rained on!
Photos include Sylvia Kirk and Lesley Jones with their wheelbarrows full of coppers to trade for silver money with the villagers on the procession route – no more excuses for not throwing money at the floats! Also shown in photos are Tim Jones and Richard Long who trailed behind the Carnival with their wheelbarrows kindly donated by Morris Mica Headless Cross They did a great job of mopping up and taking any loose change left behind and not thrown at the floats – don’t they look smart?
