What a wet day but it didnt deter anyone from enjoying the jubilee celebrations provided by Carnival.
The Right Royal Romp should have taken place on the field at Ridgeway Middle School but they kindly opened their doors and allowed us to use the hall. The crowning of 2012 Royalty took place central stage and this was followed by the fun run fancy dress being chosen by the queen and her attendants before they waved a union jack to send the runners on their way. The under 12’s ran round the field and the adults did a couple of laps of the village. In true British style no one gave a hoot about the lashing rain.
Indoors meanwhile familes arrived with their picnic hampers and blankets and settled for the afternoon. With plenty of entertainment for the children including punch and judy/leaps and bounds/music man/willow working/face painting/circus skills workshop etc the little ones had an absolute ball.
In the middle of the afternoon the best dressed Teddy Bear was chosen and juding by the photos we had more Teds this year than ever before with some wonderful outfits.
All entertainment for this event was provided free of charge to the village and everyone took advantage of a great indoors event while the weather did its worst outside.
Thanks to the Guides and Scouts we had hot drinks and nibbles on site and everyone enjoyed a fabulous afternoon celebrating the Queens jubilee weekend.
